And just like that, "Project: Think Like a Kid," is complete. I've never enjoyed working on something much like I did with this piece. Between collecting and cutting the fabric, sending it out, getting in touch with hundreds of talented people and sewing it all together, this has really been a journey. And although stressful at times, I wouldn't have wanted this experience any other way. I am so proud of what I have achieved with the help of family, friends, artists, designers, faculty & everyone in-between. For anyone who completed a quilt square (or several), know that I thank you greatly and that I will cherish your work forever. Here's to New York Textile Month 2017 🎊

They also had a beautifully designed, spacey exhibit downstairs. By which time I felt both inspired and excited to go outside. The buildings and skylines and open spaces of New York -- I love them!

They also had lovely starry things. The textile in the back is printer with constellations. It was used on airplane seats in the 1950s/60s--space exploration fever.

These are part of an exhibit called "The Aviary." It is all about the way that birds are at the heart of the human experience...and the way they represent transformation, freedom, honor, grace and other exhaled principles and virtues. I saw this and loves it because I LOVE feathers. AND now I will only wear the ones that are either vintage...that I am therefore recycling...or that are picked up off the ground. Because as much as I love feathers, I love birds way more. And they look more beautiful in them than I ever could. Flying jewels. #forceofnature

This exhibit talked about microscopes, fractals, and Ernst Haeckel - the first to study droplets of seawater and discover microscopic life inside. He published a series of natural history prints and introduced the hidden world of tiny lifeforms (as well as inspiration for beautiful design motifs) to the public. "Nature generates from her womb an inexhaustible cornucopia of wonderful forms, the beauty and variety of which far exceed the crafted artforms produced by human beings." - Ernst Haeckel.
Also...kudos to Melissa Mara and Javier Alvarez for curating such a WONDERFULLY thoughtful and richly layered exhibit! Your excellent work = noticed. #forceofnature

The Costume Institute at the MET sadly just closed its latest exhibit but luckily Tigger! came to the rescue and pointed me to the Fashion Institute of Technology, which had several beautiful #alexandermcqueen pieces displayed #fashion #museum #couture #nyc
