The man who lives here described how his home was ripped a part by hurricane winds as his family sheltered inside. They lost everything in Hurricane Irma. This mega-storm flattened their home by pushing over an oak tree that split their house in half. He was emotional – and watching a man who has worked hard his entire life to provide for his family made my heart ache. I believe we can do something to help our neighbors – we need more than prayers – we need people to take action! MOVE! DO SOMETHING! Whether that’s rolling up your sleeves to clear out debris, volunteering with a non-profit, or financially donate. We can all do something! Even if it’s a small gesture. This poor man needed a break – his family needed some relief – I couldn’t help them load up their truck because I was on the job. I had to get my responsibilities done for the day, however, I wanted to offer him something, so I gave him the money I had in my wallet to buy dinner. We sometimes get so caught up in the moment we forget that these are people with real stories. Kindness and compassion go a long way to help a broken heart. Yesterday, I was blessed with @sjsopio deputies who provided my photographer and I with cold water. I thought I won the lottery!! Let’s all do our part to spread kindness; no matter how big or small we can all make a difference. We are FLORIDA STRONG!
