Nadi Shodhana, or “alternate nostril breathing,” is a simple yet powerful technique that quiets the mind, body, and emotions.
·
While the original Indian technique is a bit more complicated than what I have described here, you can use this to quiet your mind before beginning a meditation practice, as well as when you get stressed at work.
·
Performing this at your desk will improve your ability to focus the mind, support healthy respiratory function, settle stress by stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system.
·
I like teaching this technique at the end of my yoga classes because the effect it has on the mind.
·
How to perform 🙏🏻
1️⃣Take a seat in a comfortable position with a neutral spine
2️⃣Relax your left palm comfortably into your lap and bring your right hand just in front of your face.
3️⃣With your right hand, bring your pointer finger and middle finger to rest between your eyebrows, lightly using them as an anchor.
4️⃣Close your eyes and take a deep breath Inhale through the left nostril slowly and steadily.
5️⃣Close the left nostril with your ring finger and retain your breath at the top of the inhale for a brief pause.
6️⃣slowly exhale from right nostril and release the breath and repeat this process 5-10 times per side.

These things take time. Everything that is worth it, that is built on solid foundation, that had deep well intentions, take time. Let time be.

Sometimes when we pause our spinning minds and breath in what's happening in the current moment, we remember that we've come far and that progress is made one step at a time. One day at a time.

It may not seem like much until we've strung together the consistent days and seasons of showing up. Then all at once, we realize once again, with relief, that we have everything we need today to keep moving forward. #morningReflection #dailyBreadIsEnough

This whole time I felt it was painstakingly slow moving forward with my career. But this weekend I realized it was me who wasn't listening as best as I could to Life and where it was calling me.

Last week both my clients had 4lb weight losses. I onboard two more clients at the end of this week. And my 70 year old former tennis pro who played against Billy Jean in the US Open starts her training program this week as we work to rehab and strengthen her knee and shoulder.

I updated the timeline for the new website and book to be more realistic and the excitement is growing for this fall.

Still here y'all. Still growing. Learning. Sharing. Daring greatly. Living fully.
