If you teach at the primary level and need a resource to help students navigate how to process what happened on September 11, 2001, check out the free resource LaNesha (@apron_education ) and I put together for you. We included an eBook and pages for students to respond to. Link in profile!

You asked, so here it is! (Link in profile) I put together a Kindergarten Math Warm-Up: Counting and Writing Numbers Resource! Just project and read each question/prompt to your students. I let mine use dry erase boards to record their answers. Make sure to have them discuss how they got their answers. It's a great way to informally assess who needs to be pushed and who needs more practice! #kindergartenmath #kindergartenteacher #mathwarmups

"Nobody would know how old they are or how much money they have and you'd be like, huh? And nobody would know what was going on!" - 5 year old 😂😍👏

Working on getting my students to HONESTLY evaluate themselves and identify where they need more support. So far everyone just says they are doing awesome! 😂 I'll touch base with our progress later in the year.

Working hard to finish up our October social studies unit. October is Italian American Heritage Month. Chef Boyardee has a really interesting story! Who knew? His real name was Chef Boiardi, but he changed it in order to achieve success with his food company in America. It worked, but it's sad that it had to be done. "Everyone is proud of his own family name, but sacrifices were necessary for progress." - Ettore Boiardi #socialstudiesk3

Adding strategies to our math skills board! We brainstormed ways to make counting easier with a circle map, and took it off the map by adding it to our board. #thinkingmaps #readlikearockstar #iteachk #kindergartenteacher #kindergartenmath #iteachtoo #teachingideas #teachersfollowteachers #makelearningmeaningful

Our Math Warm-Up is all ready for tomorrow! I let the students use dry erase boards work on each problem. They come up and explain to their friends how they got their answers.

How do you teach your students to celebrate and embrace cultures different from their own? With intentional instruction! LaNesha from @apron_education and I have been working on a social studies resource for almost a year now. We realize that knowledge is power and that most social studies programs only address the same old ideas and the same old people can can. We made sure to include heritage months and accurate stories from history. We celebrated influential black Americans, Hispanic Americans, Irish Americans, Arab Americans, Italian Americans and many more people and stories from all around the world. While creating these monthly, we found ourselves saying, "I wish I learned this when I was in school." way too many times. January - September are in our TpT store now. We are currently working on the rest and hope to bundle them soon! Check out the hashtag #socialstudiesk3 to see more of what we focus on during the school year! Check out the link in @apron_education's profile to learn more!

I added a link in my profile to a blog post I wrote about some helpful tips when teaching (black) history to your students. It's so important to make sure you incorporate the history of various communities into your school year. This may not be your area of expertise, but work this year to make it something you intentionally improve! Start now! 😘 A free resource is included at the end of the post!!

Can't wait to implement Thinking Maps starting on Day 1 with my kinders! 💭🍎 A huge goal of mine is to teach them to identify key words so they can choose which map to use.

How cool is this wall at my church for VBS? The kids had so much fun placing their balls at different starting points and seeing where they ended up. Seems like a fun way to introduce making predictions!
