Despite your best intentions to make lifting weights, eating greens, or whatever else a habit, often these efforts fall through and said habit never lasts the course of time.
. 
This might be for various different reasons including your motivation, the difficulty of the chosen habit/behaviour, or simply because you haven't chosen an appropriate time to implement the habit/carry out the behaviour.
. 
You see, amongst other factors, how a behaviour fits into your current routine is a big element that could either set you up for success or failure depending on how you go about things.
. 
This is best described with a study by Judah et al., (2013), who looked at how to make teeth flossing a habit.
. 
They instructed people to either (1) floss AFTER showering/cleaning teeth, which were two pre-existing habits that followed one after the other; or (2) floss BETWEEN the two.
. 
After 8 months they found that flossing AFTER lead to stronger habit formation than BETWEEN.
. 
This was most likely because the BETWEEN condition meant disrupting two pre-existing interlinked habits and as a result it wasn't just a case of making flossing a habit but also breaking and re-forming existing ones.
. 👆from a practical perspective, this means that if you want to make a behaviour a habit, it's best placing it after existing habits/cues rather than interrupting a pre-existing pattern of behaviours.
. 
Using my attempt to make meditation a habit, I've scheduled it in AFTER the cue of my post workout meal rather than between the cue of me arriving back from the gym and then eating my pwo meal. . 
So it looks like this:
Arrive home -> eat -> meditate ✅ . 
As opposed to this:
Arrive home -> meditate -> eat ❌
. 
That way I don't mess with the pattern of my existing habits and am simply slotting a new one in.
. 
The results is that I've consistently kept up with the mediation behaviour and it's starting to become a habit ✌️️

Tempo pause squats 👌🏼these feel almost therapeutic, as slowing down the eccentric (negative) and pausing at the bottom reinforces good technique and gives them sore knees, hips and lower back a good ol rest 😁Give them a go if:
A: your squats suck
B: your joints have taken a pasting 
Or C: both of the above like me 😂

Jumping rope is a great way to incorporate extensive low level plyometrics. However, I believe it is critical that ground contact times have to be minimal, feet need to bs active, core needs to the braced and knee need to have a minimal change in range of motion. .
.
The first jumps are an example of non-goal orientated jump roping. Not saying this version is bad, obviously there are numerous health benefits, but it does not accomplish the low-level plyometric action I am looking for. .
.
However, halfway through the video I change my technique, I stay much more vertically stiff and my feet become more active. By doing such, I meet the requirements of fast SSC ground contact times and hopefully have a better stimulus for my training goal. .
.
You cannot perform a fast plyometric movement slow. If your goal is reactiveness, never sacrifices ground contact times for height.

I don't target core as much as I probably should 😬, if I ever leave anything out that would be it...so I'm challenging myself to add circuits like this to my training 2-3x a week..... should have started this before summer Taylor 😒🙄🤣.
