Forgiving yourself. At times, forgiving yourself can be the hardest thing to do. Walking around feeling horrible, distraught and weighed down by mistakes and faults of the past. As much as we would like to change situations that happened weeks, months and even years ago, we cannot go into the past and rectify those mistakes. However, we can make a decision to learn from them and start forgiving ourselves.

➖Talk about it. Be open, talk about what’s tearing you apart. Express your vulnerability.
➖Be honest with yourself. Break out of denial. Be aware of the consequences of your actions.
➖Realize that you’re a human; you’re bound to make mistakes. You hurt people sometimes. You’ll have regrets. That’s part of living in an imperfect world.
➖Let go. You don’t have to live with the guilt of your past. No more self-justification, no more condemnation. See yourself as a valuable person.

When you start forgiving yourself, peace and joy will saturate you whilst guilt, bitterness, resentment begin to dispel. Burdens are lifted up and chains are loose. We can’t move forward if we’re still beating ourselves up about the past. Forgiving yourself is a decision and a daily task; even if you were to mess up right now, the power of forgiveness will always be readily available for you to tap on.

We should always remember that we have a mission among unbelievers.

Christ told us to “Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Because Jesus sends us into the world, we should not avoid all relationships with non-Christians. And although it is important to note that nothing we as humans do actually changes the hearts of unbelievers(only God can do that) we are called to be the salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) and we are to do the work that God sent us to do, working as His instruments to bring about His will and purpose in this world.

We pray today that the Spirit is actively working in your life and that God uses you to share the Good News about Christ and His saving work on the cross to someone that may not have a relationship with Jesus.
