With a population that has dwindled to an estimated less than 30 individuals, only 25 of whom are believed to be reproductive females. It is urgent to learn about these mammals, and to help protect them! ? ❌The biggest threat to these beautiful creatures is presented by fishermen that use gillnets. The main method of fishing in the is with small skiffs (pangas) that lay gillnets with bouys for several hours at a time. These indiscriminately destructive gillnets are normally made with transparent or green nylon. Combined with the murky quality of the water in the upper Gulf of California, these nets are nearly invisible. As they swim within the marine refuge, the porpoises often become entangled in the nets and are unable to reach the surface of the water to breathe, causing them to suffocate.

I’m so sorry for this graphic photo but I want to be as transparent with Cooper’s journey and recovery as possible. We received this photo today from @mercyanimalclinic. The black area on Cooper’s head was dead skin. The infection has now cleared and the skin has fallen off leaving this massive opening on his head. Dr Hamlin will be closing up the areas he can and then potentially a skin graft. Him and his amazing staff will be doing everything they can to minimize the scarring, although he will never look completely “normal” again. That’s ok though…normal is boring in my opinion. He is not in a lot of pain despite what we automatically think from looking at this photo. The infection has cleared, he’s not trying to scratch and guess what… he’s a pit bull! They are so resilient! Copper will undergo another surgery tonight, please keep donating and sharing for donations! We still need all the help we can get! Just abandoned! They were reported in from Vasant Kunj on Sunday by animal lovers and picked up by Friendicoes immediately. Their condition speak for itself. A mixed Rottweiler with a bad leg (may be even hip dysplasia) and a German Shepherd who has lost most of his hair if not all. The guards said they were abandoned a few days back and the guards were feeding them. Now they will be looked after by Friendicoes. Blood test results are awaited.

Super Summer donating her clothes and bag to the Womens Shelter in town… ?? She first argued that donating clothes to second hand stores doesn’t help people who can’t afford clothes at all and we need to give them to kids who could really use them so we came up with a list of ideas and women’s shelter was her pick! ?
